There are two Santa Clauses in Slovakia?

Happy St. Mikulash Day 🙃 And if you haven’t checked your clogs and socks for gifts yet, you can do so now 😁

There are 2 curious characters associated with the Christmas season in Slovakia. And both of them have the right to claim the role of Santa Claus 🎅

Therefore, you can safely count on a double portion of gifts 🎁

The first grandfather is St. Mikulasz. On the eve of December 6, it is customary to put polished slippers on the windows, in which you can find a surprise in the morning. Mikulash leaves sweets for obedient children, and potatoes, coal and onions for others.

Mikulash is somewhat similar to our Del Moroz. But there are a number of differences not only in appearance, but also in the accompaniment. Instead of a Snow Maiden, he is always accompanied by a Devil and an Angel.

The second character is the Hedgehog. It is believed to be the Baby Jesus who brings a present under the Christmas tree. It is customary to open them on December 24 after Christmas dinner. And you can expect not only sweets, but also something cooler.

By the way, no one knows what Hedgehog looks like, he is a lover of riddles. But it’s not all about looks 😁😉

And if your Christmas/New Year’s dream is to move to Slovakia, it’s time to get down to the real magic!
