Some people like to bask in the sun, while others can’t imagine their life without snowy winters and skiing ⛷️ Who is Slovakia suitable for?
Today, we propose to go over the main features of the Slovak climate.
☀️ Slovakia is located in the temperate climate zone. Winters here are cool but not harsh. Summers are warm, sunny, and relatively dry but not too hot.
☂️ The temperature depends on the region of Slovakia. For example, the average January temperature ranges from -1 °C on the Danube plain to -11 °C on the highest peaks of the Tatras.
🌨️ Snow in Slovakia occurs during the winter months. But it is the mountainous regions that are more snowy. As you can imagine, ski resorts are popular here for a reason. By the way, Slovakia is just hosting the Alpine Ski World Cup and the European Biathlon Championships right now.
☂️ The amount of precipitation also varies from region to region. The least is in the plains of the Danube Plain, in the region of Galanta (annual average 483 mm). The highest is in the highlands, where the annual total reaches 2000 mm.
☀️ The number of summer days (with temperatures above 25°C) in the lowlands averages about 70. Tropical days with a daily maximum above 30°C in the warmest areas from 15 to 20.
Personally, the climate is quite comfortable for us. There is a well-defined seasonality here, but at the same time, there are no critical weather conditions. There is an opportunity to sunbathe, swim, and ski in winter.
📊 Of course, the weather can be changeable. Sometimes cool winds blow, especially in winter and spring 🍃 And, for example, this summer was hotter than usual. So there were days when it was hard without air conditioning and a pool. But in general, the weather conditions are favorable for living and traveling.
