Friends, we wish you a very Merry Catholic Christmas this coming year 
Christmas holidays in Slovakia last 3 days (24, 25 and 26 December). During this time, everyone has a holiday. Everyone means really everyone!
Of course, the emergency services are working and, for example, no one will refuse you an ambulance. But! The shops are only open until 12.00 noon on 24 December, and then they go on holiday.
In Slovakia it is customary to prepare food for the Christmas table in advance 
Everyone knows that they will be able to replenish the stock only on the 27th.
Of course, at first it is not very convenient and strange. We are used to the fact that on any holiday we can go to the shop and buy everything we need. That’s why such weekends are a complete surprise 
But then you get used to it and realise how great it is! After all, all employees can also spend the holidays with their families. And it’s not that difficult to prepare everything you need in advance.
And that’s what Slovaks are all about! The benefits of business and work are nothing compared to the opportunity to spend the holidays with the family 
They work to rest, not work for the sake of working and resting sometime and somewhere. And this has its own special meaning of life.

In many countries it is duck, turkey or some national delicacy. In Slovakia, among other dishes, they prefer to serve carp at a feast. It is believed that fish brings financial prosperity and wealth to the family.
