We are so used to the fact that we can buy food and medicine at any time of the day or night. When moving to Slovakia, we have to adapt to a different reality.
🥐 If you have a late-night craving for goodies and your fridge is “happy” with empty shelves, even in Slovakia’s capital, it’s not an easy problem to solve. But your waistline will be slimmer 😉
Grocery stores usually have a standard working schedule, and after 22:00 all outlets are closed. On weekends, even earlier. And official holidays are special days when almost everyone in Slovakia has a vacation.
There are, of course, delivery services and cafes and restaurants. But they too often have a limited work schedule, often also resting on holidays.
💊 Pharmacy hours are not much different than grocery stores. However, there are pharmacies on duty that work longer hours and may be open even on holidays 🗓️ There are also some pharmacies that are open 24/7. In Bratislava, for example, there is a pharmacy at the University Hospital at Ružinovská 12.
And if you look at it from the employees’ point of view, there is a huge advantage in such a schedule. Here, you won’t have to work on holidays, you won’t be constantly sleep-deprived because of a crazy schedule, you’ll have more opportunities to spend time with your family and have a full vacation.
It is realistic to adapt to the schedule of work of establishments, planning everything in advance and immediately buying the necessary products 🥕 and medicines.
