More than 37.9 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered worldwide
Vaccination is taking place in 49 countries. More than 55 thousand people, according to data from 15 January, received the drug in Slovakia.
This vaccination threatens to be one of the largest ever.
As of 18 January, the Slovak Ministry of Health is introducing changes in the vaccination plan. Previously, it was decided that doctors and crisis infrastructure workers would undergo the procedure first. But recently there was a proposal to emphasise the age population ![]()
The infection is more severe in the elderly. Older people are more likely to be hospitalised and require emergency care.
Therefore, vaccination of this population will be prioritised from Monday.
First of all, elderly people in nursing homes will be vaccinated. These institutions have been identified as places with an increased risk of an infectious outbreak among the elderly population.
Then the vaccine will be given to people over 75 years old and people with serious chronic diseases over 65. After that, doctors and crisis workers who have not received the vaccine before will be vaccinated.
We remind you that vaccination in Slovakia is absolutely free and voluntary.
On universal testing, the issue is still in limbo. It is difficult to decide how best to proceed in such a situation. We will wait for news regarding the lockdown. For now, it is valid until the end of next week, until 24 January ![]()
We keep our hand on the news pulse and wish you and your loved ones good health.
