Why do Slovaks love bicycles and scooters so much?

Slovaks are very fond of travelling around the city on bicycles and scooters 🏙️ And this is not just a recreational activity, but a comfortable way to get to school, university, work, shopping or to meet friends. Bicycle tourism is no less popular 🚵‍♀️

And no wonder, because this kind of transport is economical, environmentally friendly, healthy… After all, getting there by scooter or bicycle is simply more pleasant and fun 😁

It’s also very convenient in Slovakia!

🔹 It is possible to rent a bicycle or electric scooter online using mobile apps or a website. For example, slovnaftbajk.sk, arriva.bike, bolt.eu/sk provide this service.

🔹 Transport rental points are scattered not only throughout Bratislava, but also throughout Slovakia.

🔹 You can pick up your bike or scooter at one place and return it at another after reaching your destination.

🔹 There are convenient parking spaces for bicycles and scooters almost everywhere in Slovakia.

🔹 Here it is a familiar transport for which cycle lanes are provided, so there are usually no confrontations with motorists and pedestrians.

🔹 The absence of long, cold winters and spring and autumn slush makes it possible to use bicycles and scooters almost all year round.

You don’t have to rent, you can also buy your own two-wheeled vehicle. In most multi-storey buildings, there are special places for it. And in a private house, this is probably not a problem at all 🤷‍♂️

But if you have your own nice bike at home and plan to move to Slovakia, it’s best to bring it with you.

💰It’s not very clear what this is about, but the price tags on bikes in Slovakia are not the most democratic < image > It’s cheaper to transport your own.

How do you feel about such modes of transport? And would you prefer it to walking and car or not?

P.S. Friends, thank you for your feedback under the posts. We always take them into account when planning publications to make them useful and interesting for you.

Since many people have expressed a wish to touch upon the Bratislava and Slovak neighbourhoods in more detail, we decided to put it in a regular column 👌 So the most interesting things are still to come 😉 Don’t miss it!
