The Slovak Republic takes an active position in preserving the environment and reducing carbon dioxide emissions ![]()
At the end of last year, significant progress was made on this issue.
The largest company Slovenské elektrárne reported that more than 95 per cent of its electricity was CO2-free.
The use of coal was reduced by a third. It was replaced by nuclear and hydroelectric resources.
In Slovakia there are also solar power plants
In one year of operation 1 such plant saves approximately 1200-1300 tonnes of greenhouse CO 2 compared to generating electricity from coal.
In parallel, other environmental protection programmes are being implemented in the country.
Orientation towards a closed circle of resource use:
moving away from an exclusively consumerist attitude,
caring for the protection of rare species, conservation of fauna and flora,
reusing resources through recycling, reducing waste and replacing with recyclable materials.
It is not surprising that ecology and environmental protection related areas are gaining popularity in higher education institutions.
Some would say that this investment can be spent on other needs. Perhaps
But it is probably not for nothing that people prefer to choose places to live with favourable ecology, clean air and out of the environment of household waste.
