January is an exciting period for everyone who wants to apply to Slovak universities
The application process in Slovakia starts in January, not in the summer as in our country.
We remind you that international students have the opportunity to enroll in a state university for free and receive a scholarship.
But where can we go without the usual monthly expenses. How much are they ![]()
A dormitory usually costs no more than 50-80 €. Rooms are usually designed for 2-3 students. Showers, toilets and kitchens are often one for 2-3 rooms. But there can be a large shower room and kitchen per floor.
Most students prefer to cook on their own. But some students also eat in cafes. There is a 50% discount for students in the university canteens.
Public transportation for university students will also be cheaper – 0.45€ with the student discount for 30 minutes. By the way, if you use the mobile app, you can save a few cents more.
But you can also buy a pass at once:
for 30 days – in Košice for 10 €, in Bratislava for 13,45 €;
for 90 days – in Košice for 27 €, in Bratislava for 36.15 €.
You can use Slovak Railways for free. Students receive a 100% discount.
In some dormitories, internet is already included in the fee, while in others you have to buy it separately for 10-20 €. But for many students, 4G mobile internet is enough.
By the way, the equipment of dormitories differs greatly. In addition to a kitchen and Internet access, dormitories may have laundry facilities, billiards, tennis and gymnasiums, boxing rooms and a cardio zone.
All in all, it usually costs about 300 € per month to live without deprivation, including entertainment, if we’re talking about Bratislava. In other cities, you can safely subtract a hundred.
Again, a more economical option of up to 120-200 € is enough for some people. It should be taken into account that everyone has different needs + the city of residence is strongly influenced by the city of residence ![]()
Are there those among our subscribers who are planning to apply to a Slovak university this year or next year? Is it worth mentioning this topic as well ![]()
