There are many negative consequences associated with corruption, which can severely undermine the development of a country. What is the state of corruption in Slovakia 🤔

📊 According to the world corruption index, Slovakia ranks 49th out of more than 190 countries. The first places are occupied by the countries with the lowest levels of corruption, and the last places go to the most corrupt states.
On the one hand, Slovakia still has work to do 🤷♂️ On the other hand, the country is in the top quarter of the list, and the situation is much better than in most other countries.
Slovakia has relatively recently introduced important reforms and updated laws to combat corruption, which also shows that the country is committed to reducing corruption.
However, if you ask the Slovaks themselves, most of them would say that the country has a high level of corruption.
☝️ In a recent survey, 82 percent of Slovaks said there is a high level of corruption in the country, especially in the health sector. The EU average was 70 percent. At the same time, only 2% of Slovaks said that they had actually had to pay bribes.
But here we must take into account that the Slovaks are very critical of their government and it is difficult to judge how objective the results of this survey are.
Personally, we have never encountered extortion, bribery, or other corrupt practices in Slovakia.
