Czech Republic or Slovakia? What country to choose 🤷♂️ Where are more comfortable conditions for living and obtaining a residence permit, and citizenship?
The choice is not an easy one. Both countries are members of the European Union and both can offer a high standard of living with relatively low costs (compared to Western Europe). You will have access to high-quality education, the opportunity to do business in the EU, and many other bonuses.
But each country has its own nuances. And in making the final decision you should base on your individual preferences. After all, what is a huge plus for one person, for another may be totally incompatible with a comfortable life.
Let’s see, which country is more suitable for you?
The Czech Republic, especially Prague, has a more developed economy and many international companies, which is attractive for career development. Slovakia also has big companies, and the authorities are doing their best to attract more and more foreign investment. However, the number of job offers is higher in the Czech Republic. This is not surprising, given that the Czech population is twice as large as Slovakia’s.
If you plan to work for yourself, start or relocate a business, Slovakia definitely offers more advantages. There are simplified registration procedures and active business support programs. In general, Slovakia is very clear on the development of business areas. It offers excellent opportunities. The Czech Republic has more complicated procedures for business. This applies both to registration and running a business.
The Czech Republic, in particular Prague, can offer a more active culture and nightlife. But if you prefer the natural beauty and recreation in the fresh air, there are many more opportunities in Slovakia.
Both in the Czech Republic and Slovakia you can get an education of European standard. Both countries have universities in the world rankings of the best universities. However, Czech universities usually occupy more leading positions, there is a greater choice of universities, specialties, various grants, and directions for scientific work. But there are more opportunities to get free higher education in Slovakia. There is less competition in universities here, too. And Slovak graduates can work both in the Czech Republic and in other EU countries.
Where are the higher salaries? In the Czech Republic! But you should take into account that you will pay more for utilities, rent, food, and transport. Life there is more expensive than in Slovakia.
Slovakia is a smaller, quieter country, and the capital Bratislava loves its homeliness and sobriety. The Czech Republic is also full of its own charms. But Prague is more exciting than peaceful. It is one of Europe’s largest cities with all the pros and cons.
Despite similar conditions in Slovakia, it is still easier to get a residence permit. The Czech Republic has its own limitations, often the process can be delayed – the official deadline for consideration of documents to 270 days. Whereas in Slovakia – up to 90 days.
The comparison could go on and on, but it’s the business of a big article, not just one post. At one time we preferred Slovakia to the Czech Republic. Not once have we regretted it. But which country is better for you, only you can determine!
