The walk will not take much time, but it will delight you with silence and beautiful panoramic views of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A landmark that is easy to find is the Hlavn\u00e1 stanica (main station). Cross the road through an elevated pedestrian crossing and begin to climb the mountain through a narrow staircase, and then along a winding mountain street. Your task is to go up all the time. The climb will take about 10 minutes. At the very top is the Slavin memorial complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/slovakiagarant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/slavin-vyglyad-na-grad.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6743\" width=\"334\" height=\"209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/slovakiagarant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/slavin-vyglyad-na-grad.jpg 735w, https:\/\/slovakiagarant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/slavin-vyglyad-na-grad-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 334px) 100vw, 334px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Climbing up the monumental staircase, you will see 6 fraternal and 278 individual graves. 6845 Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of the city from the Nazis during World War II are buried here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the central part of the memorial is a 40-meter obelisk, on top of which rises\u00a07-meter statue of a Soviet soldier. The monument was erected in 1960 and is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/slovakiagarant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/memorial-na-slavine.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6744\" width=\"312\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/slovakiagarant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/memorial-na-slavine.jpg 500w, https:\/\/slovakiagarant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/memorial-na-slavine-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slavin is an emotionally charged place, in which you think about the meaning and value of human life, the pain and suffering that befell people. Thoughts of war are not easy. This is facilitated by the relief images that adorn the monument, and the unrealistically huge roll-call list engraved on a black marble slab, and an impressive Orthodox cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the other hand, it is worth looking into the distance when you instantly get the strongest charge of positive energy. Indeed, before your eyes, the cityscape of amazing beauty opens. The whole city at a glance. The towers of ancient churches, modern high-rises and bridges are clearly distinguishable. On a nearby mountain, shrouded in fog, rises Bratislava Castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slavin is a place that is definitely worth a visit. Be silent about the eternal. Enjoy the silence. Enjoy the city view. Take a break from the bustle of the city. And get back to your daily life. It is not surprising that the memorial is one of the most popular tourist spots in Bratislava.
